FASHION STYLING

Violet started her career in fashion as shop stylist at a Sloane Street couturier Tomasz Starzewski, before assisting former Tatler Fashion editor & late style icon Isabella Blow, who spotted her natural eye and offered her a job. She shadowed Caroline Sieber (currently brand ambassador for ) before taking over her role as first assistant to (Laura) Countess of Burlington - a fashion editor at Harper’s Bazaar at the time. After three years at Harper’s, Violet went freelance styling women, men, shoots, shows & brands for three years before setting up a costume & vintage designer clothing studio - dressing a high-end clientele including celebrities & Royals for parties. After five years, with more and more clients asking for personal styling service outside the costume studio, in 2015, Violet - missing the appeal of high fashion, and innovative design - returned to freelance styling full-time, where she concentrates mainly on private styling clients, some of whom have been with her for many years.

She believes the key to personal styling & shopping is to listen to her clients. Working out what styles, colours & shapes suit each person is key, but getting to know someone’s personality, lifestyle and what they would like to project to the world, gives her a deeper understanding of taste, style suitability, and what is essentially going to make her client feel the way they’d like to feel in the clothes they wear.

Violet’s own style is eclectic, mixing classic with eccentric, designer with high-street, & vintage with hot-of-the-cutting table. Although aware of trends, she generally avoids them, sticking with classic or one-off pieces with a bit of edge. She has an eagle eye for a new fabric, colour or shape & takes great interest in global style, fashion & sartorial tradition. She has enjoyed the magic, artistry & beauty of ‘dressing’ since she was a little girl, and helping others feel inspired about their clothes never ceases to bring her pleasure.

JOURNALISM & WRITING

In 2009, she completed a post grad journalism diploma. Since, she has written for Vanity Fair, Tatler, Evening Standard, The Lady, Bloomberg Businesweek, First Eleven, Departures (New York magazine) 24th Letter among other publications. And she has contributed to various books on the subjects of style, etiquette and parties.
